Why I didn’t show up at the Gala
After last Friday, 31st August, when I waited for a sensible decision from my club until the last hour, I’m not really in a “party” mood.
On that day SC Heerenveen had the chance to transfer me for a price over four times bigger than what they paid for me one year ago. I don’t have to say again how important this transfer could be to my family and me.
My family fully endorsed my decision of not showing up for this evening event.
It’s hard to my mother read on my web site some SC Heerenveen fan calling me “monkey boy”. That’s exactly how I would feel if I had to bend to my “owners” in public tonight.
It couldn’t be most fair than have my teammates receiving the top scorer prize for me. Nobody scores alone and they were an important part on these 34 goals. Thank you guys.
Mr. Ries was the man that brought me to the club, and therefore he was the best person to receive the best player prize.
Furthermore, the event organization and the club was informed that I wouldn’t go already a few days ago. So, in despite of whatever they say, it was not a surprise.

Depois da última sexta-feira, 31 de agosto, quando esperei até o último momento por uma decisão sensata do meu clube, não estou mesmo em clima de festa.
Naquele dia, o SC Heerenveen teve a oportunidade de me negociar por um preço superior a quatro vezes o que pagou por mim há um ano. Eu não preciso repetir aqui o quanto esta transferência significaria para mim e minha família.
Minha família endossou totalmente a minha decisão de não comparecer ao evento desta noite.
É duro para minha mãe ler no meu web site alguns torcedores do SC Heerenveen me chamando de “Macaquinho”. É exatamente como me sentiria se tivesse que me curvar publicamente aos meus “proprietários” esta noite.
Não poderia ser mais justa a escolha dos meus companheiros de equipe para receber o prêmio de artilheiro por mim. Ninguém marca gols sozinho e eles foram uma parte importante destes 34 gols. Obrigado a vocês.
O Sr. Ries foi quem me trouxe para o clube e portanto foi a melhor pessoa para receber o prêmio de melhor jogador. Além disso, gostaria de dizer que a organização do evento e o clube foram informados da minha ausência já há alguns dias. Portando, a despeito de qualquer coisa que disserem, não foi uma surpresa.

Heerenveen never said they will not sell you. Heerenveen sells everybody; but for a right price and at the right time. You signed for five years; so leaving after two or three years is the right way.
The way you (and AZ) were acting was not good. On this site was written that Heerenveen wasn’t taking you serious, well at least you didn’t take Heerenveen serious as well.
ABE LENSTRA (our all time favorite) also wasn’t always really easy to understand! (He would not leave Heerenveen for Fiorentina, even for free to choose money)

Just know that most of the supporters don’t think your a monkey boy but a fabalous goalscorer, and all of the supporters will chear the moment you score again fore SC Heerenveen.
the fact that your not playing is harming our club and your career. It’s no good for anyone, and I hope you know this. You are very welcome after your matches with Brazil, to come and play for Heerenveen again. With your qualities you will get the transfer you deserve at the end of the season. There’s only one thing you can do, play for Brasil, come back and show the world you are really that good, that you have to leave Heerenveen. You have a few months to show your skills, if you don’t, you can forget any good transfer ever. Not showing up at Heerenveen is a stupid thing to do, no other club will be happy with a player like you and without playing you can forget the Brasilian team as well.
Accept your loss and be a man! You and only you have to show the world you need a better club than Heerenveen, but you are not showing it this way.
And don’t forget, we are Frisians and not always teh easiest too. You are letting down a whole team, a whole club, a whole stadium packed with 26000 people each match and all those other fans that watch Heerenveen from home. Is it really worth it??

as a frequent visitor of the home matches of Heerenveen I’m sad to see that you’re not playing. Of course I understand that not getting transfered is not a good feeling. So I hope that after the international friendlies you will play for Heerenveen again. If you score a lot of goals then during the next transfer period or next year you will get your transfer.

You don’t need Heerenveen. You’ll fit better with a club that meets your standards like Milan, Barca, Man U. But there’s no way they’ll pay 20 million euro’s for you. Just put the pressure on your club by not showing up or just not giving you’re best They’ll have to let you go for much less cause you’re no use to them that way. Just play hard ball. It’s the only way to get a good transfer.

Eu compreendo em sua história que o Sr. tiburcio você mesmo está envolvido também pròxima em fazer do decission de Afonso. Você pode duvidar se todos os decissions feitos pelo tiburcio são as decisões direitas para a carreira futura de Afonso. Você não pode negar que se Afonso não jogar para seu clube, será mais difícil para ele encontrar outro intersted o clube em torno de dezembro em que o mercado de transferência estará aberto outra vez.
nos anos onde passados nós tivemos nomes grandes jogar para Heerenveen, pense de Nistelrooy, Tomasson, Allback, Huntelaar. Para todos aqueles jogadores Heerenveen foi uma experiência positiva com consideração a sua carreira futura. Se o tiburcio fosse o tipo da pessoa que quer todo o mais melhor para Afonso e sua família, estimularia seu jogador continuar marcando para Heerenveen para ao menos a metade um do ano mais a fim merecer mais melhor transferência possível para Afonso.
que necessidade dos afons é alguém que lhe ajudará para trás em seu rythm, tem que mostrar o mundo que pode ainda marcar para a metade um do ano mais. Se (e Tiburcio estimulará este) lá será clubes numerosos com os nomes grandes que esperam em dezembro para comprar Afonso e oferecer-lhe um salário que seja 10 vezes mais altamente então a oferta de AZ!

I understand you read the comments at this website. Don’t be too sad and worried about the things written here about you’re son. Most important is that the supporters of sc Heerenveen cheered and yelled last season their heart out for you’re son. Afonso made us proud, he made the most goals of the Dutch Eredivisie and for the first time in history the topscorer belongs to sc Heerenveen. We think that Afonso is a very good soccer player en we are proud that he signed a contract for 5 years.
These days there are some troubles about you’re son. But in three weeks Afonso plays again for sc Heerenveen and when he works hard the supporters are proud again. Maybe you, as his mother, can tell him that he is a wellpaid grown up adult who made appointments. My mother always learned me how important appointments are.
I hope you understand that some supporters are very emotional because they love sc Heerenveen with whole their heart.

Just put the pressure on your club by not showing up or just not giving you’re best They’ll have to let you go for much less cause you’re no use to them that way. Just play hard ball. It’s the only way to get a good transfer.

How can you proove to the football world that you are worth every penny that Heerenveen wants for you, if you act like a baby, and not play at all??
Do you really think BIG clubs will ever want you, when they know you start acting like this when you are not satisfied with the way things are going?
Compare the money they want for you with recent transfers, and it’s not all that high. I consider you to be a better striker then, for example, a Ryan Babel, and he leaves for 17 million.
By acting like this, you only hurt your own career. I really do not understand, that coach Dunga would want someone like you in the brazilian squad. It’s not like you are in the same league as players like Robinho, Ronaldhino, Kaka or Ronaldo.
Just do what you are good at doing at, and that is play football !! Then the teams will come and pay the money asked !! And you will only be richer (which is, how i understand, more important to you, then being able to play football at all).

Heerenveen ontving verschillende aantrekkelijke aanbiedingen om de atleet te verkopen. Maar de amateuristische bestuurders, die duidelijk een bord voor hun kop hebben en niets van de voetbalwereld begrijpen, hielden zich van de domme en kozen ervoor de speler gevangen te houden.
Maar zelfs daar lieten diezelfde bobo’s, die in Brazilië nog niet eens een club uit de Serie Z zouden mogen leiden, het niet bij. Ze wilden Afonso Alves doodleuk verplichten mee te doen aan een feest waar hij zou worden onderscheiden voor zijn prestaties van vorig seizoen.

The world of soccer with all the money going on is very crazy actually, but you are very lucky to be in it. Even the people who are insulting you at the moment will agree to this.

I’m sure if you show all of us this season how much talented you are again, your chances of a big transfer (which will benifit you personal, your mangement and Heerenveen) will only improve!

You are very lucky to have a talent for football. Like others, you don’t have to work 40-60 hours per week. If you would have a “normal job”, you could not stay away from your workplace, and no other employer would have you if you made a mess in a previous job.
And Alfonso, the people that bought season tickets for Heerenveen, are the ones with “normal” jobs. They work their ar** off to see you!!

I can understand the fans who seem to be speaking with their hearts and ask (or demand) Afonso to return to Heerenveen, but put yourself in his position for a change. What would you do if you could triple (or more…) your salary with another job, but your boss wouldn’t let you go? Okay, Afonso makes more money than the average dutchman, but does that really count?
I can only speak for myself, but if my boss would prevend me from making a lot more money than I would most certainly do my upmost best to never have to work with that guy again. Even if I had signed a 5-years contract!!
Don’t get me wrong, I hope Afonso will return on the dutch fields again, but I can understand he will not be as motivated as before.
